Spring Edition 2016
It has been just over a month since the latest print offering of Scope Magazine released onto 6 main university campuses across South Africa. The following is just a bit of the heart behind it…
The Spring Edition sprung from an idea (about 8 months ago) to look at the prevailing issue of identity, examining some of the main aspects that influence who we are and what we perceive that to be.
We were ambitious, jumping from two publications in Cape and Stellenbosch last year to four new added publications in Bloemfontein, Potchefstroom, Pretoria, and Grahamstown. With these plans to expand our physical reach into new regions across South Africa also came its fair share of challenges. It was simply miraculous how the Lord drew students together from many different local churches, either serving on one of the six local publishing teams or contributing to it in their own unique way.
The Spring Edition 2016 would not have been possible without some key people who were integral in bringing it together. Firstly, Michael, who was the creative brain behind the visuals and layout of all the publications. Zoe was the master coordinator and go-to person for every Managing Editor from each region. Brad, our finance man, took care of all the accounts. And finally each Managing Editor; Paula-Ann (Stellenbosch), Mégan (Cape Town), Simone (Bloemfontein), An-Mari (Potchefstroom), Jacqueline (Pretoria), and Cathryn (Grahamstown).
Thank you to every person who freely gave to this edition, either by generously donating, contributing to the content, or praying and encouraging those who had a hand in publishing it. Your input has made an eternal difference in the lives of thousands of students across the country.
If you haven’t given it a read yet, my prayer is that it will be a blessing to you as you delve into its content and share it with your friends. Ultimately, may God be glorified as the Gospel reaches our future leaders where they’re at, and transform them to be key decision-makers in local community for the sake of Christ.
